CASTRIL - ACTIVITIES FOR EVERYONE

Fátima is a small village within the borough of Castril and thus has its own fiestas. These involve the consumption of unspecified amounts of food and drink as well as lots of music by bands and groups and the obligatory 'encierro'.

This is where a 'bull' (actually a surprisingly aggresive cow) is put into a corral and tries its best to gore the people who are mad enough to be in there. Some people do get hurt but they just accept it as part of the sport. No UK style H&S here. This is part of a tradition that comes down from the cowboy days in the area when cattle had to be moved from place to place.
